We would like to express our sincere
gratitude for the generous cooperation extended to the JAPAN DIY
HOMECENTER SHOW 2004 by all supporting organizations and associations
including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Forestry
Agency, the prefecture of Chiba, Chiba City, Japan Broadcasting
Corporation (NHK,) the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO,)
and the International Federation of Hardware and Housewares Associations
(IHA). We are also extremely grateful to all exhibitors, visitors
and the press for their interest in the show.
We feel greatly honored that Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado
has assumed the office of Honorary President of the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER
SHOW. Taking this glorious occasion to reaffirm our commitment
to enhancing the value of the show, we will continue to exert our
utmost effort for its further success.
Established in 1980 and celebrating its 24th anniversary this year,
the Japan DIY Industry Association has conducted various activities
in disseminating the idea of DIY in Japan, promoting the DIY industry
in general and helping Japanese people improve the quality of their
lives.
The Show has played a particularly important role in
disseminating and promoting DIY in Japan. Since its inception in
1978, we have held the JAPAN DIY SHOW 39 times in both Tokyo and
Osaka. The 40th show will be upgraded in quality and scheduling
under the new name, the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW.
The JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2004 will be held at Hall 2 to Hall
6 of the Nippon Convention Center (Makuhari Messe) for a period
of three days from August 26 (Thursday) to 28 (Saturday). It is
very encouraging that despite the tough economic climate, the scale
of the show will be larger than ever with the participation of
633 companies from Japan and abroad occupying 1,520 booths.
Under the theme "Let's DIY at Home Centers," the show
will showcase all lines of products sold at home centers, offer
the latest information on home improvement, and provide useful
tips for more comfortable home life through various events. It
is also notable that the new three-day schedule on Thursday, Friday
and Saturday is highly convenient for people working in the home
improvement industry. Anticipating a great number of trade visitors,
the show will offer a number of programs to invigorate the industry
such as marketing seminars, and special presentations of innovative
and economically friendly products.
As "self-revolution" and "self-help efforts" are
two of the most frequently referred key words for a desirable life
style in the 21st century, we believe that DIY and home improvement
will become more important as a "power to reform our lives."
Consisting of the Trade Days focusing on the invigoration of the
DIY industry and the Public Days focusing on the promotion of DIY
activities, we believe the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2004 will
be very interesting and useful for all participants. Your generous
support and cooperation for the success of the show would be greatly
appreciated.
August, 2004
